Win in Porsche Cup at the Nurburgring.
Five Apex Tech cars took the start of round 1 of the iRacing Nürburgring Endurance Championship at the weekend and it was the #2 Porsche Cup Car of Alexander Lauritzen and Matias Birk that came away with the win in the main timeslot having been locked in a race-long battle with the #215 Impulse Racing machine of Paul Costa, Marco Jager and Max Kessler.
The #013 Cup Car of Jan Ternjak and Malthe Rømer was running third before an unforced error dropped them down to ninth. Tom Male, who was soloing the #113 Aston Martin Vantage GT4, claimed a third place podium after an eventful race. The car was on for certain victory before a late crash dropped Male down the order, however the race went a lap longer than expected and the field in front of him pitted on the last lap, promoting him back up the order.
Jamie Conway in the #313 Mazda MX-5 was locked in a tight five-way battle at the front of the class for much of the race, before an incident with a passing GT3 car quashed his hopes, coming home in seventh.
There was good news however in the 0100 GMT race. Kamal Hashimee ran in the #213 Vantage GT4 to a third place podium to get his NEC hopes off to a strong start. The team will hope to build on this when the series returns in two weeks time. Full results here.
